The best customer service software on channel coverage is Crisp, which counts 11 of the 12 tracked channels as native, 1st on the channel and language coverage leaderboard. Zendesk and Zoho Desk tie for 2nd with nine. This list ranks twelve customer service platforms by the number of channels each covers natively, and breaks ties on seat cost at 25 agents. Channel data is current as of 8 October 2026.

Among the eight-channel tools, Freshchat is the cheapest at $5,700 a year for 25 agents, ahead of Help Scout at $7,500 and Front at $19,500. Salesforce Service Cloud counts three native channels and sells six more as add-ons, so it ranks last here.

How this list is ranked

The order comes from the October 2026 channel coverage run. Twelve channels are tracked: email, live chat, voice, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, X, an in-app SDK, a help center, a community forum and Slack or Teams. A channel counts when the vendor includes it natively. Add-ons and integration-only channels appear in each entry and add nothing to the count.

Ties on the count are broken by the 25-agent figure on the seat-cost leaderboard, lowest first. A vendor without a seat figure, whether quote only, priced by ticket volume or priced by region, comes after the tied vendors that have one. The full counting rules are on the testing method page.

1

Crisp

11 native channels AI: 50+ languages (message translation, not a count of AI agent languages)

the most native channels of any tool on the leaderboard

Crisp counts 11 of the 12 tracked channels as native, 1st on the channel coverage leaderboard: email, live chat, voice, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, X, the in-app SDK, help center and Slack. A community forum is the one channel it earns no credit for. Crisp has no seat figure at 25 agents, because it does not say which plans its extra-seat price applies to; at five agents it costs $1,140 a year on monthly billing. It lists message translation in 50 or more languages. Crisp is self-funded and holds 4.5 on G2 from 205 reviews.

Watch for: Crisp publishes no AI rate card, so its Hugo AI agent is not ranked on AI price per outcome.

2

Zendesk

9 native channels 3 add-on channels; AI: 80+ languages

large teams that want nine native channels in one help desk

Zendesk counts nine native channels, joint 2nd on the channel coverage leaderboard with Zoho Desk: email, live chat, voice, Messenger, Instagram, X, the in-app SDK, help center and community forum. SMS, WhatsApp and Slack are paid add-ons. On the tie-break Zendesk ranks ahead of Zoho Desk because it has a seat figure: Suite Team costs $16,500 a year for 25 agents on annual billing. Its AI agents list 80 or more languages. Zendesk holds 4.3 on G2 from 7,094 reviews.

Watch for: The three add-on channels carry additional fees that Zendesk does not price publicly.

3

Zoho Desk

9 native channels 1 add-on channel; 1 integration-only; AI: 30 languages (Zia Answer bot)

teams that want nine native channels and can buy on regional pricing

Zoho Desk also counts nine native channels, joint 2nd: email, live chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, X, the in-app SDK, help center and community forum. SMS is an add-on. It sits behind Zendesk on the tie-break because it is not ranked on seat cost; Zoho prices by region and currency, and its US list price is unsettled for this run. The Zia Answer bot lists 30 languages. Zoho Desk holds 4.4 on G2 from 7,983 reviews.

Watch for: Voice is available on Zoho Desk only through an integration.

4

Freshchat

8 native channels 1 add-on channel; AI: 45+ languages (translated conversations, not stated for the AI agent)

the cheapest eight-channel tool at 25 agents

Freshchat counts eight native channels: email, live chat, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, the in-app SDK and Slack. Voice is an add-on. On the tie-break it is the cheapest of the eight-channel tools: Growth costs $5,700 a year for 25 agents on annual billing, joint 2nd on seat cost. Freshchat lists 45 or more languages for translated conversations, and Freshworks sells it separately from Freshdesk.

Watch for: Freshchat earns no channel credit for a help center, which Freshdesk Omni covers natively.

5

Help Scout

8 native channels 1 integration-only; AI: not_stated

email-led teams that want messaging channels too

Help Scout counts eight native channels: email, live chat, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, the in-app SDK and help center. Voice is available through an integration. Standard costs $7,500 a year for 25 agents on annual billing, which places Help Scout second among the eight-channel tools on the tie-break. AI Answers costs $0.75 per resolution. Help Scout holds 4.4 on G2 from 431 reviews.

Watch for: SMS appears as a plan feature in one part of Help Scout's pricing and as an integration in another.

6

Front

8 native channels 1 add-on channel; 2 integration-only; AI: not_stated

B2B teams that run support from email, social and Slack

Front counts eight native channels: email, live chat, Messenger, Instagram, X, the in-app SDK, help center and Slack. WhatsApp is an add-on, and voice and SMS come through integrations. Front has the highest seat figure among the eight-channel tools that publish one, $19,500 a year for 25 agents on Professional with annual billing. Front holds 4.7 on G2 from 2,515 reviews.

Watch for: Professional caps at 50 seats, and the Enterprise plan above it is annual only at $105 a seat.

7

Gladly

8 native channels AI: not_stated

retail brands that want voice, SMS and messaging in one quoted platform

Gladly counts eight native channels: email, live chat, voice, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and help center. It is quote only on seats and publishes no AI price, so it sits last among the eight-channel tools on the tie-break. Gladly describes itself as a retail-trained AI commerce solution. It holds 4.7 on G2 from 1,114 reviews.

Watch for: The Gladly pricing link leads to a demo request, with no figure for seats or AI.

8

Intercom

7 native channels 3 add-on channels; AI: 30 languages (Fin Voice)

chat-first teams that want the in-app SDK and Slack natively

Intercom counts seven native channels: email, live chat, Messenger, Instagram, the in-app SDK, help center and Slack. Voice, SMS and WhatsApp are add-ons. It leads the seven-channel tools here on the tie-break at $5,700 a year for 25 agents on Essential with annual billing, joint 2nd on seat cost. Fin costs $0.99 per outcome, and Fin Voice lists 30 languages. Intercom holds 4.5 on G2 from 3,918 reviews.

Watch for: Intercom earns no channel credit for X or a community forum.

9

Freshdesk

7 native channels 1 add-on channel; AI: 60+ languages

teams that want a help center and community forum with social messaging

Freshdesk Omni counts seven native channels: email, live chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, help center and community forum. Voice is an add-on. Omni Growth costs $8,700 a year for 25 agents on annual billing, which puts it behind Intercom on the tie-break. Freshdesk lists 60 or more languages. It holds 4.4 on G2 from 3,777 reviews.

Watch for: Freshdesk earns no channel credit for SMS, X, the in-app SDK or Slack.

10

HubSpot Service Hub

6 native channels AI: all HubSpot-supported languages (no count)

teams that want voice and WhatsApp inside their CRM

HubSpot Service Hub counts six native channels: email, live chat, voice, WhatsApp, Messenger and help center. It ranks ahead of Gorgias on the tie-break with a seat figure of $27,000 a year for 25 agents on Professional with annual billing, the highest 25-agent figure on the seat-cost leaderboard. The customer agent works in all HubSpot-supported languages and costs $0.50 per resolution. HubSpot holds 4.4 on G2 from 3,018 reviews.

Watch for: Starter caps at 10 users, so a 25-agent team pays Professional's $90 a seat.

11

Gorgias

6 native channels 2 add-on channels; AI: any language supported by its large language models (no count)

Shopify brands that want social messaging and AI in the help desk

Gorgias counts six native channels: email, live chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and help center. Voice and SMS are add-ons. It sits after HubSpot on the tie-break because it has no seat figure: Gorgias prices by monthly ticket volume and never per agent. Its AI Agent costs $1.00 per automated interaction on monthly billing and $0.90 on annual billing. Gorgias holds 4.6 on G2 from 582 reviews.

Watch for: Gorgias publishes no overage rate for AI interactions past the plan allotment.

12

Salesforce Service Cloud

3 native channels 6 add-on channels; AI: no count stated (translation feature)

enterprises that buy extra channels as add-ons on Salesforce CRM

Salesforce Service Cloud counts three native channels: email, live chat and help center, level with PolyAI near the foot of the channel coverage leaderboard. Six more are add-ons: voice, SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, the in-app SDK and community forum. Add-ons earn no credit in the count, so Service Cloud ranks low here despite those six. It is not ranked on seat cost, because its pricing does not settle which plan includes chat. Agentforce costs $2 per conversation.

Watch for: Each add-on channel is an extra purchase on top of the Service Cloud edition.

What a channel count leaves out

A count measures breadth. It does not measure how fast a team answers on each channel, which depends on staffing and lives in each team’s own data; the first response time guide covers how to measure that. Language figures are vendor claims stated in different ways: Zendesk lists 80 or more languages for its AI agents, Crisp 50 or more for message translation and Zoho’s Zia Answer bot 30. Add-on channels can also change the bill. Zendesk charges additional fees for SMS, WhatsApp and Slack, and Intercom sells voice, SMS and WhatsApp as add-ons.

The channels most often missing

A community forum is native only at Zendesk, Zoho Desk and Freshdesk among these twelve. X is native at Crisp, Zendesk, Zoho Desk and Front. Voice is native at Crisp, Zendesk, Gladly and HubSpot, and an add-on or integration at every other tool here. A team that runs phone support should filter on voice first, and the customer service metrics guide sets out which numbers to track once the channels are live.

Picking by team
